Still, the likelihood of a sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding has excited many fans and players craving a return to the game’s post-apocalyptic wasteland and the reappearance of the courier Bridges, who crosses this terrain delivering supplies to isolated settlements across Death Stranding’s unrecognizable map of America and linking them into a wireless communication network. But few details about the game are known, and even fewer have been confirmed by people close to the project. And it does seem undeniable that a Death Stranding 2 is in the works, judging by the sheer number of rumors and leaks that have surrounded the game over the last year, some of them apparently perpetrated or at least encouraged by Kojima himself.
Death Stranding (and its Director's Cut gameplay fixes) was a popular if not divisive, successful game that won a lot of nominations, awards, and acclaim for its developers, in the United States, Europe, and Japan, which would suggest that a sequel is likely. What all of this adds up to, though, is a great deal of uncertainty.
